About 3 years ago I was sitting in Biology class when a number flashed across my phone screen. A familiar voice on the other end said I needed to get to urgent care immediately! After arguing that leaving biology class early and having to repeat the day was the worst thing that could ever happened I gave in and finally agreed to leave.
The shuttle brought me to lot where my car was parked, and that's when things took a turn for the worse. While hoofing pass the isles breathing became a struggle. Would even I make it? Reaching the driver's seat I decided to just skip urgent care and go straight to the hospital. The wait in the E.R about five hours until the shocking news was finally revealed. I was dying and would need an immediate blood transfusion. Uterine Fibroids had caused my blood levels to drop to a 4. (normal is 12-13 and fatal is 7).
Over the next week an array of thoughts came to mind. 1) Laziness wasn't the cause of my great lack of energy. In fact, I'd planned to push myself harder. 2) I almost died for not wanting to leave biology class. Seriously, Biology??? 3) This one hit me the hardest. Had my life ended that day my legacy would have been trying to catch up on bills.
